Belief in the Risen Christ

Where should we as Christians get our values?

In our local community, Belgrade, Montana, there’s a bit of a struggle going on concerning pornography.  Of course, the struggle is much larger than this small city, but this is where I live, and this is where I can possibly make an impact.  I want to point out something to my fellow-believers of the Old & New Testaments, more especially to the true followers of Jesus Christ as their Lord.  If you’re part of that group, there should be no question in your mind about whether pornography is right or wrong.

The Lord tells us in His Law that we are not to look on another person’s nakedness.  That nakedness is only for the person themselves, and the person of the opposite sex to whom they are married.  Very severe punishments were to be meted out for looking on another’s nakedness.

Jesus stated in the New Testament, in the Sermon on the Mount:

“You have heard that it was said, `YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY’; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.  If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.  If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.”

Is there anyone who would say that they can look at pornography and not lust, not have sexual desire for the sexual object of the pornography?  If so, I can assure you that you won’t be believed if you do maintain that.  Better to be honest, confess our sin, and go through life blind, and maimed, than to be cast whole into hell for our adulterous eyeing of pornography.

Therefore, you and I, my fellow-believer, should be against pornography, because we believe the Bible, and we are obedient disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.  If you’re fighting for someone’s right to view pornography, I hope that you don’t identify yourself as a Christian, or a believer in the God of the Bible.  Because your stand is against both, in my understanding of the Bible, and the commands of Jesus.  And it’s from the Word of God that the true follower of Jesus Christ gets their values.

The Authority of the Scripture

Have you ever tried to explain why we confess that the Bible is the Word of God, inerrant, infallible and God-breathed? Why do we confess that the Scripture is our rule of faith and practice? I came across this in Augustine’s, On Christian Doctrine, Book I, Chap. 37, p. 533,

Now faith will totter if the authority of Scripture begin to shake.  And then, if faith totter, love itself will grow cold.  For if a man has fallen from faith, he must necessarily also fall from love; for he cannot love what he does not believe to exist.

Accept with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength that we do indeed possess the Word of God, and that it is inerrant, infallible and God-breathed.

Montana State University Chi Alpha

We’re continuing to receive very positive reports from the MSU campus, and the Chi Alpha ministry there.  Students are coming to Christ!  Chi Alpha has experienced some record number of attenders at events!  Please continue to pray for the new believers to be rooted and grounded in Christ.  Pray for student leaders for wisdom, fullness of the Spirit, and a love for all people!

Montana State University Chi Alpha

Received a wonderful report from Montana State University Chi Alpha yesterday. At their first large group meeting of the semester, 203 students attended! 13 people made public professions to follow Jesus! Please pray for these 13 new brothers and sisters in Christ, and rejoice in their salvation! Pray that the Chi Alpha leaders will be able to “…make disciples…” of each of them.

Super Bowl L commercial angers NARAL

Sunday, February 7, 2016, Super Bowl L was played. Like has been the case for many years now, the commercials shown during the broadcast were a huge part
of the overall production. The cost is astronomical for each commercial spot.  That being the case, the various entities vie to make the best spot. One of
them, made for the Doritos’ brand, featured an ultrasound of a baby, and it’s antics as its father ate Doritos. The National Abortion Rights Action League
(NARAL) is incensed that this commercial attempts to humanize the fetus.

Really? What do they think that what is shown by the ultrasound inside the woman’s womb is? Is it an alien? Is it a tissue blob? Knowing that the end of
this thing should be its birth, if it isn’t human during the ultrasound, when does it become human? Does the mother or father exercise god-like power and
pronounce it human or not? The reason for NARAL’s anger is very transparent.  This ultrasound, as every ultrasound of a pregnant woman’s womb, shows a tiny
human being, and that tiny human being has been endowed by its Creator with certain unalienable rights, such as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
As such, aborting that tiny human being is murder. And NARAL doesn’t like being exposed as supporting the murder of innocent human beings.

I want to show you a specific example from the Bible, in Luke 1:39-45, that will contradict what NARAL said about the Super Bowl L Doritos commercial. Here’s
the scripture:

“Now at this time Mary arose and went in a hurry to the hill country, to a city of Judah, and entered the house of Zacharias and
greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. And
she cried out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And how has it happened to me, that
the mother of my Lord would come to me? For behold, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy. And blessed is
she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.”

The ‘baby’ leaped in her womb. ‘blessed is the fruit of your womb’. The ‘baby’ leaped in my womb. 2000 years ago, Luke, a
physician, knew, as did Elizabeth and Mary, that it was a human being that was in the uterus.

Where have I been?!

Belgrade Christian Assembly’s website went down, due to a physical move on my part, around 7 weeks ago. The blog – The Truth Shall Set You Free! hadn’t been very active, in that I was trying out a new theme, but never got it customized to my liking. Although this blog is about discussing the truth, I’d also welcome discussing how to use wordpress as our primary website. I welcome your comments and feedback!


Praise the Lord that the state of Texas has de-funded Planned Parenthood! To be commended are the governor of that great state and all those working with him to take tax dollars away from this organization responsible for most of the abortions in Texas, and guilty of violating federal laws in the trafficking of aborted baby parts.  Pray that the same thing will happen in the rest of the United States, and that Planned Parenthood will go the way of the dinosaur.

What Next after Election 2012?

So, the election is over, the votes counted.  There are incumbents who won, incumbents who lost, and newly elected candidates ready to take office.  Some ballot initiatives passed, some were defeated.  How are you going to measure the results?  What you should have been doing before election day, what you should be doing at the present and continuing into the future, if you are a believer in Jesus Christ, is being in diligent prayer to our sovereign Lord and heavenly Father, that the will of God will be carried out in our nation, our state, our local communities, and in our own lives.  If you would continue to be a follower of Jesus, then today, “…deny yourself, take up the cross, and follow [Him].”

Today, November 6: U.S.A. election!

If you’re a believer in Jesus Christ, then you are admonished in the Word of God, to: “First of all, of primary importance, offer up supplications, prayers, intercessions, giving of thanks, on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.” (1 Tim. 2:1-2)  Doesn’t matter if you agree/disagree with their policies and politics.  Pray for the leaders of your nation!

I came across this profound quote of President Ronald Reagan that is worth sharing:

Thanksgiving – Thursday, November 24, 2011

Why should we here in the U.S.A. be thankful? "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, for His mercy endures forever." And we are told in the Bible, "It is He that made us and not we ourselves. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture." Let's not allow ourselves to fall below the level of animals as did the people of God addressed in Isaiah 1: "The ox knows his owner, and the donkey its master's manger; but Israel does not know, my people do not consider." Take time to thank the Lord for all that He does. And if you have not yet received the gift of eternal life, you may do so by accepting it as a free gift paid for by the precious blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God. "As many as received Him, to them He gave the power to become sons of God"
